Stephanie Lavega
MSW, RSW
I am a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist and have a Ph.D. in Human Geography, an M.Phil. in Human Ecology, and a M.S.W. I consider myself trauma-informed and tend to be solution-focused. I use a variety of modalities to support my clients, feeling most drawn to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and contemporary brief therapies (solution-focused brief therapy, mindfulness, brief narrative therapy, and competency-based approaches). While I welcome all clients, those who tend to be most attracted to my approaches are individuals considering/in the midst of life transitions, those who are struggling with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, the perinatal period, fertility, and those who are simply looking for a soft landing for their words and experiences. I have worked in the mental health field for over twenty-five years and have taught in academia for approximately twenty years. Both my research and my social work practice focus on sense of place, belonging, and identity. I think about important things - who we are in this world, why this matters to us, our communities, and our environment, and how we can move gracefully while here.
